Vulnerable teen chased and beaten in unprovoked attack in County Durham

A vulnerable teenager was chased and beaten in an unprovoked attack in County Durham as he walked to his parents' house.

The victim was walking on Carrville High Street at about 6pm on December 29 when two teenage boys approached him and started shouting at him.

They then chased him along the road and caught up with him near the Battered and Fried takeaway before pushing him to the floor and punching him several times.

He was left with a bloodied nose, a grazed hip and broken glasses.

Police are looking to trace the two teenagers who were believed to be in the company of two girls.

The first suspect is described as being white, around 5ft 8in, of average build and was wearing a black jacket with a white hood, black tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.

The second suspect is described as also being white, around 5ft 11in, of slim build with curly hair.

PC Emma Watson, from Durham City Response, said: “We have carried out extensive enquiries to trace the suspects, which has included reviewing hours of CCTV footage.

“Unfortunately we have not been able to identify the suspects, therefore we would appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident or with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.”

Anyone with information should call PC Watson on 101 quoting incident number 338 of December 29.
