Nan self isolating for two years put on covid ward after accident

A vulnerable 77-year-old who had to wait 28 hours to be treated for a gash "could have died" her family claim after being put on a covid ward.

Jean Cullen, from Upholland, Skelmersdale, tripped on a path outside her bungalow and was left with a large open wound on her left knee.

Carer, Chelsea Cullen, 29, claims that her nan, who has been isolating for two years as she suffers with bronchitis and Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) was immediately put on a covid ward despite not being positive for the virus, reports the Mirror.

Chelsea said: "I know they are rushed off their feet but mistakes like that could have cost my nan her life."

'Absolute menace' wanted by police after being released from prison early

Liam Brennan, 28, is wanted for by police (Merseyside Police)

Police are hunting for a wanted man who was previously jailed for burglary.

Liam Brennan was branded an 'absolute menace' by detectives who helped put him behind bars back in 2019.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "Recognise this man? We’re still appealing for information to find wanted man, Liam Brennan.

"28-year-old Brennan is wanted by police following his release from prison due to poor behaviour and breeching his license conditions.

Tunnel tolls, travel pass and transport tax all set to rise for Liverpool City Region residents

Mersey Tunnel tolls, a transport tax and the cost of applying for an older person's concessionary travel in the Liverpool City Region are all set to rise.

The city region's combined authority, led by Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram, has published its full budget plans for 2022/23 - which are set to be rubber stamped at a meeting next Friday.

The budget plan includes a number of increased costs which are set to add more strain to hard pressed city region residents.
