Vulnerable man suffers facial injuries after being attacked in Sunderland's Civic Centre car park

A vulnerable man was left with facial injuries and bruising after being attacked in the car park of Sunderland's Civic Centre.

Northumbria Police received a report that a vulnerable male had been assaulted in the Civic Centre car park at 3.45pm on Sunday (September 12).

It's believed the man was attacked by a group of individuals, some of whom were known to him and sustained facial injuries and bruising.

Officers are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "At 3.45pm on Sunday (September 12) we received a report that a vulnerable male had been assaulted in the Civic Centre car park, Sunderland.

"It was reported that the male had been attacked by a group of individuals, some of whom were known to him.

"The victim suffered facial injuries and bruising as a result of the incident. Enquiries are ongoing to identify those involved.

"Anybody with information is asked to contact police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of our website or by calling 101 quoting log NP-20210912-0668."
