Vulnerable Edinburgh woman missing since New Year party in latest sighting

An Edinburgh woman who was reported missing after heading to a New Year's Eve party has been spotted in the Portobello area of the capital a day later, on New Year's Day.

28-year-old Alice Byrne was last seen on January 1 at approximately 10am leaving a flat party on Marlborough Street in Portobello.

Alice is 5'6, and was spotted wearing a long black t-shirt and black jeans. Her family have urged the public to report any further sightings to the police.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Searches and enquiries are ongoing to trace the 28-year-old woman who was reported missing from Edinburgh on 2nd January.

"Anyone with information should contact officers through 101 with reference 0647 of 2 January."

The missing post notes that Alice is a vulnerable member of society, and needs to return home to her family.

Her brother Bruno said: "My sister Alice has been missing since New Years Day.

"We are all really worried and ask if anyone has seen her or spoken to her please contact the police or one of the numbers in the picture.

"We believe she is in Edinburgh or East Lothian potentially but she could be anywhere. Please share this on all your social media accounts. Thanks you."
