Nottingham Forest will leave the door open for Michael Dawson to take up a different role at the club beyond the summer.
The veteran defender is coming towards the end of his contract with the Reds and will not be offered a new one, but it remains uncertain what future path he will take.
Dawson has not yet officially declared he will hang up his boots and has also turned his hand to media work when he has not been playing.
There is also the possibility of taking up coaching, with many fans keen to see him stay at the City Ground in that capacity, be it with the first-team or the youth sides.
Summer change?
Chief executive Ioannis Vrentzos is said to be considering his role at Nottingham Forest.
Vrentzos took up the position of CEO at the club when Greek businessman Evangelos Marinakis bought the Reds four years ago, in May 2017.
He remains on the board at Greek giants, and fellow Marinakis-owned outfit, Olympiacos.
And it is reported he is weighing up whether to return to Greece.
Done deal
Midfielder Marcus McGuane has completed a move from Nottingham Forest to Oxford United.
The former Barcelona and Arsenal man spent this season on loan at the League One club and has now joined on a permanent basis, for an undisclosed fee, signing a three-year deal.
McGuane had a year left to run on his contract at the City Ground after he signed from Spanish giants Barca in February 2020.
He leaves without making an appearance for the Forest first-team, but had made a positive impact in his 21 appearances for Oxford before a thigh injury ended his campaign early.
Aiming to improve
Ryan Yates jokes if he’d put all his chances away, Nottingham Forest could have been much higher up the table this season.
But on a serious note, the midfielder is putting in the work to help him become more ruthless in front of goal - particularly when it comes to headers.
Yates has scored twice in 35 appearances this term. Barely a game has gone by though, where he hasn’t got into a good position in the area and been left with his head in his hands as an opportunity has gone begging.
Incredibly self-aware and self-critical, the 23-year-old constantly analyses his own performances and admits that is one area he needs to improve on.
