Makeshift General Election 2019 polling station branded 'worst in UK'

While some of us in Scotland enjoy some picturesque backdrops when submitting our ballot at polling stations for the general election , others in the UK have unfortunately been left with something a bit less salubrious.

Normally voters are asked to submit their vote at a local school or nearby church - but there are occasions where additional polling booths have to be squeezed in.

This means some councils have set up their own temporary structures on a playing field or in a supermarket car park.

So spare a thought for voters having to use this polling station in Huddersfield.

Voters in Lascelles Hall area of the Yorkshire town have been asked to vote inside a tiny portable cabin based on a slopy section of grass, levelled out by some wooden legs underneath, reports Examiner Live .

The toilet facilities are far from five-star as well.

Maidens Bowling Club is often used as a polling station in Ayrshire and voters can make their choice against a scenic backdrop – unlike in Lascelles Hall (X03756)

For those needing to go before sending off their vote, there is a squinty loo attached to the right hand side of it.

Anyone thinking of nipping in to relive themselves after voting should first consider whether they have the required upper body strength to get back out again.
