Vote to take German Shepherds into the lead in the UK’s favourite dog breed competition

German Shepherds have risen to seventh place in the UK’s favourite dog breed competition – register another vote to take them into the lead!

Thousands of votes have been cast since our sister site TeamDogs launched the UK’s Favourite Dog Breed competition in association with Pooch & Mutt. Dog owners all over the country have been battling it out to support their best-loved breed.

The Manchester Evening News is backing German Shepherds as the nation’s most treasured dog breed – after they rose to seventh place in the ranking.

Michael Hylands championed German Shepherds for the MEN, writing: "C’mon, there’s no doubt as to what the best breed is - it’s the German Shepherd. Name me one breed as good-looking, or as super-cute as puppies.

"They’re powerful, intelligent, multi-skilled and the most versatile breed I know and despite their fearsome reputation, they can also be brilliantly goofy."

German Shepherds are currently battling with Cockapoos and Border Collies for a spot in the top five.

Take your favourite breed into the lead and register another vote in the competition now.

Head over to the leaderboard to see who else is hot on their tails.

Every Friday, we’ve seen the 10 breeds with the lowest amount of votes eliminated from the competition. Last week, the Corgi, Toy Poodle and Pomeranian all dropped into the ‘Dog House’.

You have just six days to champion your favourite dog as the poll closes on Saturday, August 14.

Don’t miss your final chance to make a difference!

Push your most treasured breed to the top by casting another vote on the leaderboard now.
