Few sectors have been harder hit by the coronavirus pandemic than hospitality with tens of thousands of jobs lost in the last 12 months.
In Nottingham alone, the city centre looks very different to a year ago, with bars and restaurants battling to survive until they were finally given the green light to reopen.
Now May 17 has been and gone venues unable to open outdoors are finally able to welcome customers through their doors.
For businesses, and foodies who have bravely wolfed down meals as the April temperatures start to fall, this is a welcome step on the path back to some sort of normality.
So to celebrate the return to customers to our many terrific restaurants we thought we'd do our bit to shine a light on the best of the best, in your eyes.
As journalists, we do our best to uncover all the hidden gems and take the temperature of our readers to pick your favourite places to eat.
