Unai Emery’s starting XI for Arsenal’s Europa League tie against Vorskla Poltava is highly likely to contain a few unfamiliar names to all but the most obsessive of supporters.
As Standard Sport had revealed beforehand Emery opted to take a string of young prospects to Kiev, where the rearranged tie will take place.
Tyreece John-Jules, Dominic Thompson and Bukayo Saka are among those in their first Europa League squads but they are likely to fill out Emery’s bench, with several first-team regulars having made the flight to Ukraine and highly-likely to start.
Those include Aaron Ramsey, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Petr Cech, who is expected to captain the side. Emile Smith Rowe is likely to start in the Europa League again whilst Eddie Nketiah, who got his first minutes of the season in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Bournemouth, will hope to follow them with his first start of the season.
Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Cech; Jenkinson, Holding, Medley, Maitland-Niles; Elneny, Guendouzi; Mkhitaryan, Ramsey, Smith Rowe, Nketiah
