Von Miller injury deals devastating blow to Broncos’ defense vs. Titans

The Denver Broncos are reportedly set to lose superstar pass-rusher Von Miller for the 2020 season.

Mike Klis of KUSA-TV is reporting that Miller, who suffered an injury in the area of his ankle during Tuesday’s practice, will require surgery that will end his season. But first, he’ll get a second opinion to confirm that.

It goes without saying this is a huge break for the Tennessee Titans, but this is just terrible news for the NFL in general.

Miller is an absolute pleasure to watch and a class act, and nobody wants to see something like this happen to such a great player — not even his opponents and their fans.

Even before Miller’s injury, the Broncos weren’t at full strength in their pass rush. Fellow edge rusher Bradley Chubb is expected to be limited in the season-opener as he continues to recover from a 2019 ACL injury.

In the 2019 meeting between the Titans and Broncos, Denver totaled seven sacks in the 16-0 shutout win over Tennessee. Miller was responsible for a half sack in that contest. Chubb had already been ruled out for the season.

Judging from that alone, this game still won’t be a walk in the park for the Titans even though Miller isn’t suiting up. The Broncos have a formidable defense loaded with talent — particularly in the secondary — and are incredibly tough to beat at home in season-opening games.
