A leading car manufacturer is recalling more than 5,000 cars in Ireland due to a fire risk.
Swedish company Volvo made the worrying announcement today that affects model years from 2014 to 2019 that feature a two-litre four-cylinder diesel engine.
In a statement, they said that in very rare cases the plastic engine intake manifold may melt and deform.
The company added that in some cases there is a possibility that a localised engine bay fire may occur.
Models affected by the recall include S60, S80, S90, V40, V60, V70, V90, XC60 and XC90 vehicles.
All customers affected will be contacted by the company asking them to contact their local retailer for corrective action.
Owners will not have to pay for this work.
More than 500,000 vehicles worldwide have been affected by the recall.
The company added that they have received no reports of accidents or personal injuries due to the defect.
