Volunteers wanted to help the elderly combat loneliness

Are you looking to fill your time in the New Year? Is your New Year’s resolution to do more in the local community? Do you have a couple of hours spare?

OPAL (Older People, Active Lives) are looking for Volunteers to offer encouragement to people aged 60 and over in West Lothian to get back out and about, feel confident and engaged in local activities.

Volunteers do this by one to one visits, telephoning for a friendly chat, helping someone get to a local group or volunteering at a group helping with activities and refreshments.

OPAL will provide full training to our Volunteers, out of pocket expenses are reimbursed, we have social events throughout the year and many friendships are formed.

For volunteers who use their cars, mileage is reimbursed at 45 pence per mile.

If you would like more information please call on 01506 815815 or email opal@cyrenians.scot.
