Volunteers wanted for clinical trial to see if nose and throat spray can stop Covid severity

Volunteers are wanted to take part in a clinical trial to see if a nose and throat spray can help in the fight against coronavirus.

Swansea Bay University Health Board and Swansea University are encouraging people to come forward and enrol in the trial looking to test whether the spray, containing carrageenan, a natural ingredient from seaweed, could prevent or reduce the severity of Covid-19 infection.

However, you will only be eligible to take part in the following circumstances:-

  • You have never previously tested positive for coronavirus
  • You have not yet been vaccinated
  • You interact with people outside of your household for work, study or volunteering
  • You agree to refrain from taking antihistamines, cold products or other nasal sprays during the trial period
