Volunteers are being sought for the Hamilton fundraising group of the Guide Dogs Scotland charity.
They will hold a meeting for anyone interested in joining on Wednesday, April 10, at 1pm in the charity’s office at 12 Auchingramont Road, Hamilton.
Elaine Perry plans to help the group with their fundraising.
She was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa in her 20s, and qualified with her first guide dog, Ricky, five years ago.

And Elaine said: “Ricky has totally changed my life. We go here, there and everywhere together, which I wouldn’t have attempted before.
“I’m so much more confident with Ricky by my side. I adore him. He’s so good and patient.
“We’ve been in so many situations and nothing seems to faze him.
“He couldn’t be a more perfect match.”
Elaine leads a busy social life, but still finds time to volunteer for Guide Dogs.
As well as being a speaker, Elaine, from Wishaw, takes part in various fundraising events to raise money for the charity.
She said: “I can never repay Guide Dogs for giving me Ricky, but by fundraising I can help raise money to help others get a life-changing guide dog. Being part of a fundraising group is a fantastic way to meet new people and form new friendships, it’s a lot of fun.”

It costs Guide Dogs over £55,000 to support a guide dog from birth to retirement. Without public donations, Guide Dogs would be unable to deliver their life-changing services.
The charity offers a number of
volunteer roles, and are also looking for people around Lanarkshire who could
spare a couple of hours a week to become a sighted guide, and help people with sight loss get out and about in their local community.
