Due to a delay in our judging process, the closing date for voting on the shortlisted nominees has been extended to 23:59 on Wednesday June 10 2015
Is there someone in your team who stands out, deserves some recognition and embodies everything your charity stands for? If so, nominate them to be 2015’s Volunteer of the Year.
The Guardian Voluntary Sector Network’s competition is back for a second year and over the next week we would like you to nominate volunteers who go the extra mile.
Last year’s winner was Kamal Aftab, a Huddersfield-based optometrist who volunteers as a regional youth leader and mentor for Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Associations (AMYA). More than 3000 people voted and Aftab won with 45% of the vote.
We’ll shortlist five of your entries, whose activity and organisation will be featured in a gallery on the Guardian Voluntary Sector Network and then ask our readers to vote for the winner during Volunteer’s Week (1-7 June). The overall winner will be rewarded with £200 worth of Love2Shop vouchers.
Shortlist voting closes at 23:59 on Wednesday June 10 2015
How to enter
It’s free and quick to enter. All you have to do is register or sign in to the Guardian, which takes a few seconds, then send us a few words explaining what the nominee has contributed to the organisation and why you think he or she deserve to be the winner.
Nominations close 23:59 BST on Sunday 24 May. The shortlist of five nominees will be published on Tuesday 2 June, and readers will then vote for their winner. Shortlist voting closes 23:59 BST on Wednesday June 10 2015. The winner will be announced on Friday 12 June. For terms and conditions, click here.
