CHICAGO _ Four of Chris Volstad's five innings went quite well Tuesday night at Guaranteed Rate Field.
The other was a mess.
Volstad allowed three second-inning home runs as the Angels topped the Sox, 9-3, to fend off elimination from the American League wild-card race for another night.
Brandon Phillips hit a two-run shot, Luis Valbuena had a solo homer and Mike Trout cracked a three-run homer to center field to drive the Angels' six-run inning.
