Vols coach Jeremy Pruitt praises UGA RB D’Andre Swift

In two games against the Tennessee Volunteers, Georgia running back D’Andre Swift has not been asked to do too much. Last season, Swift carried the ball 12 times and the year before for that, five times. Both were in a blowout win for Georgia.

Last season marked Jeremy Pruitt’s first game coaching against the Dawgs as head coach at Tennessee. He may not have faced Swift at the back’s most productive, but he knows enough about the junior to have high respect for him.

“You know, there are some running backs that take a lot of licks,” Pruitt said. “He isn’t one of them. If he ever gets hit, it’s because he wanted to do the hitting. He does a great job of setting up defenders, running through the soft shoulder, and he has home-run speed.”

Pruitt has Tennessee at 1-3 right now, with losses to Georgia State, BYU and Florida. And with Georgia coming to town, the Vols are expected to drop to 1-4 after this Saturday night’s contest. If Tennessee wants to have any chance on pulling off an upset, or even coming close, it will need to dial in on Swift and manage to slow down the Georgia running game.

“He’s one of the better backs in college football, and he has been for a couple of years,” he said.”
