Voice star Jeff Anderson worked cruise ships ahead of sex crime court appearance

Thousands of holiday makers have cheered pervert Jeff Anderson during live cruise ship performances, not knowing he was a serial sex offender.

Anderson, 29, who came to fame on The Voice hit TV show eight years ago, has been facing sexual and assault charges for the last six years.

But while he waited for a court appearance, the Newtownards man was earning money, working cruise ships and travelling the world.

His performances included shows with Tenors of Rock and Our Lady Valentine through Barry Ball Artists, based in Florida.

Last week Anderson admitted a string of sex offences and assaults against women and yesterday he was unveiled as a sexual pervert after a judge lifted reporting restrictions which had protected his identity since 2016.

One of the woman he victimised, told Belfast Live: “This is a dangerous little creep who played on the fact he could hold a tune and got a spot on TV.

“He made me feel special and then he took advantage of me. I’m relieved the truth has been told, I’m relieved the judge lifted the reporting restrictions so the world will know what sort of pervert Jeff Anderson is. The creep has been unmasked.

“It’s taken seven years to get here. The police did an excellent job and now I’ve my future ahead of me whereas I think his is all behind him.”

Anderson was placed on the Sex Offenders Register ahead of sentencing on July 3.

And as two of his victims were aged under 18 at the time of his crimes, the Crown has asked that he is also made the subject of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order.

Anderson was convicted of :

  • recording a female doing a private act for his own sexual gratification, knowing she did not consent to being recorded.
  •
  • 10 separate charges of voyeurism against 10 other women,
  •
  • sexually assaulting one woman, and
  •
  • assaulting one woman, occasioning her actual bodily harm.

Anderson, who attended Regent High School in Ards, has enjoyed financial and artistic success singing with Our Lady Valentine, a stadium-style rock concert performing on cruise ships.

He was nicknamed ‘Baby Jesus’ while touring in the UK production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar.

And in his bio, Anderson claimed he taught himself to play the guitar when he was aged just one, and after finishing Regent High School, he formed a band ‘Wanted Alive’.

Before his big break on hit TV show The Voice in 2012, Anderson starred in a student production of Les Miserables and in 2011 he joined a local Operatic Society and took on the title role in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar.

But years earlier, in 2005 Anderson had already started breaking the law.

In court he admitted that between April 2005 and April 2007, for his own sexual gratification he recorded a female doing a private act, knowing she did not consent to being recorded.

And he pleaded guilty to a further 10 separate charges of voyeurism against 10 other women committed from April 2005 to August 2013.

He sexually assaulted one of his victims in 2012, and of assaulting another woman, occasioning her actual bodily harm in 2015.

Anderson will be sentenced on July 3.
