Voice of the People: Bradley still giving hope over cancer

Little Bradley Lowery touched the nation’s hearts.

The brave youngster died from neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer, in 2017.

All the way through he met his illness with determination – and a beaming smile. Despite the pain the six-year-old inspired us with his attitude.

After his terminal diagnosis in 2016 he was a mascot for his beloved Sunderland FC.

And it was then that he struck up the close and heartwarming friendship with Jermain Defoe.

No one could forget Bradley walking out at Wembley with his hero and best friend.

Bradley’s tragic death did not mark the end of the great work he did in life.

As we reveal today, more than three million pounds has been raised in his name. That’s an incredible legacy.

Bradley Lowery's dad gets incredible tattoo in tribute to the brave little boy

Bradley’s foundation raises funds and supports other children with illnesses.

It will also pay for a respite holiday home in the seaside town of Scarborough, where Bradley enjoyed a break with his family.

The foundation is a fantastic thing. And it’s being run by Gemma, Bradley’s mum.

She has chosen to use Bradley’s case to help others.

In just over a year more than 30 children have been helped by the foundation.

And Gemma says running it helps her with her grief. So as well as helping others, it’s helping her.

Bradley’s story has been one with heartbreak at its centre. But it’s also one full of hope.

Gemma puts it best. She says that’s what Bradley would have wanted, he would say it’s the right thing to do. I’m proud and he’d be proud.

We’re proud of you too.
