Voice of the Mirror: Time to ban trophy hunters' sick souvenirs from Britain

Ban trophy hunters bringing their sick souvenirs into Britain and the bloodthirsty killers will be denied the ghastly vindication they so savagely desire.

Showing off parts of the creatures they shoot is a grisly part of the obscene game they play, spending a fortune to slaughter animals that can’t fight back against guns and crossbows.

Wildlife requires protecting and the bloodsport stamping out by every means available – including the outlawing the use of dead lions, elephants or any other animal as a trophy.

Public opinion is clamouring for a ban, the majority of us are revolted by the sick stunts.

There is no excuse for the Government’s failure to act so far.

Warm words are no substitute for firm action, Ministers issuing laudable promises reduce those pledges to simply empty statements unless the law is changed.

We must block public importation of animal souvenirs and name and shame hunters and the companies profiting from the vile butchery.

Who will fill in?

Charities shortchanged by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex leaving their duties are entitled to feel aggrieved and expect other members of the Royal Family to take their places as patrons.

Harry and Meghan will do what they want but they will leave behind many angry people, including taxpayers shortchanged over the £2.4million spent improving Frogmore Cottage for the couple to live in.

The Sussexes must fly back from Canada regularly to champion the good causes they signed up to promote or other royals – but not Prince Andrew – must fill the gap.

Fight for Harry

Boris Johnson would increase the prospects of US authorities extraditing the runaway suspected killer of Harry Dunn if the PM loudly lobbied Donald Trump.

His grieving parents wouldn’t need to blockade American military bases to secure justice if Mr Johnson fought their corner.
