Voice of the Mirror: Thomas Cook fatcats should repay millions in bonuses

If they had an ounce of shame, Thomas Cook’s bosses would volunteer to repay the millions of pounds they have trousered in bonuses over the past decade.

If they have no conscience, we need a government that will impose a law to recover the money, because the company’s collapse will cost taxpayers a small fortune.

Corporate greed is a curse and the loss of an old established firm, one of the most famous names in the travel industry, is a tragedy.

Staff are not to blame, but thousands face redundancy, victims too of a painful collapse.

The buck should stop at the top, and chiefs who banked fabulous bonuses in good times must pay for this commercial disaster.

Organising flights to bring everybody home is not the end of this crisis. A failing corporate culture also requires action.
