Voice of the Mirror: Theresa May limps towards exit having achieved nearly nothing of significance

The countdown to Theresa May’s departure from No10 has begun.

The Prime Minister limps towards the exit having achieved almost nothing of significance in her three years in office.

Mrs May applied for the top job in the full knowledge her overriding challenge would be to deliver a Brexit deal.

Not only has she failed in that, she has left our schools, hospitals and other public services at breaking point, to say nothing of not tackling the rise in violent crime.

Vital services will now be further neglected as senior Tories jostle to replace her.

These preening wannabes are far more
interested in furthering their careers than the wellbeing of people they were elected to serve.

Anyone who is trying to find care for their loved one, a good school for their child or a police officer on their street must look on this tawdry beauty pageant with despair.

We don’t need a change of leadership, we need a change of Government.

Justice at last

A murder is cruel enough on the family and friends of the victim.

That torment is made all the harder if they cannot lay their loved one to rest because the killer refuses to say where their remains are.

This will soon change thanks to the tenacious campaign of Marie McCourt , which is backed by the Mirror

Marie, whose daughter Helen was murdered 31 years ago, had called for parole to be denied to murderers who will not reveal the location of their victim’s body.

Justice Secretary David Gauke has pledged to bring Helen’s Law into force.

Finally, the rights of the victims are being put before those of the criminal.

Art stopping

A painting which could turn out to be a Picasso worth £750,000 was snapped up at a car boot sale for just £230.

There may be other lucrative finds out there but you’ll have to be quick on the draw.
