With the election in the bag, Boris Johnson has quickly reverted to type. His actions in his first days back in No.10 make you fearful of what is to come.
Dropping a guarantee to maintain European employment rights – including paid holidays – from the Brexit Withdrawal Bill has set alarm bells ringing.
Because, behind the healing rhetoric and talk about serving former Labour seats in northern England, this Prime Minister is showing his true-blue Conservative colours.
Johnson quite simply can’t be trusted and that includes on delivering a Brexit to protect workers, consumers and the environment.
The Tories said whatever they thought was needed to win. Whether bashing the BBC or short-changing ordinary workers, Johnson must be held accountable or he’ll wreak havoc.

Safety first
Whirlpool recalling dangerous washing machines after its foot-dragging over fire-risk tumble dryers shows a company which should avoid gambling with the lives of its customers.
The overheating in door locks is an incomprehensible risk when consumers are entitled to expect every machine bought is 100% safe.
Something’s gone badly wrong in the design and production of dryers and now washers, with criticism of Whirlpool’s slow response entirely justified after the firm tried to brush off serious concerns raised by the Mirror.
The public’s entitled to expect the highest safety standards, so Whirlpool has a lot of work to do to put right past wrongs and ensure the machines it sells are totally safe.
Homes shame
As many as one in 200 people homeless this Christmas is grim evidence of a terrible housing crisis staining the nation.
We need a Government committed to ending the scandal rather than making it worse. Until then, please give generously to the Mirror campaign to help the innocent
children of families deserving our support.
