Voice of the Mirror: It's clear, Boris Johnson misled the public and Queen

Whatever the verdict of the Supreme Court, it’s clear that serial liar Boris Johnson wasn’t honest about suspending Parliament or his kamikaze Brexit threat.

Senior judges must conjure the wisdom of Solomon to resolve competing legal claims.

Yet this constitutional crisis is at root political, while courts, for good reason, diligently stay above the fray.

Tories smearing judges the moment these reckless politicians disagree with a ruling exposes the very worst Conservative prejudice.

It is why we want only silence from these right-wing bigots in the future.

Johnson clearly misled the public and Queen about why he wanted Parliament prorogued.

We’ll discover soon if the Supreme Court finds that unlawful or politically dishonest.

Either way, many more people have already made up their mind that Johnson is a PM who can be trusted even less than his predecessors.

Homes shame

Homelessness is a terrible curse for anyone at any age.

Yet there is something particularly distressing about the rising number of over-60s finding themselves with nowhere to live.

After decades of working, when they should be dreaming about retirement, to be sleeping rough or on somebody’s sofa is tragic.

Housing is a basic social need and human right so this awful crisis leads directly to the door of Tory Governments failing badly.

Whether it’s building too few council homes or failing to stop bad landlords ripping off tenants, the Conservatives are a disaster. Even home ownership has dropped on their watch.

The displaced elderly are yet more victims of a shameful national emergency.

Happy ending

Causes for celebration don’t come much bigger than 10 women in the same family surviving breast cancer.

Hopefully their remarkable story will inspire others to get checked regularly and give hope to those who are diagnosed with the disease.
