Voice of the Mirror: If Brexit talks fail there will be no one to blame but Boris Johnson

It’s on you Johnson...

Fail to secure a deal with our closest and most valuable trading partners and Boris Johnson will never be forgiven.

Failure will be his, and his alone.

The charlatan who lied and backed Brexit as a career move will be to blame when jobs are lost, businesses go to the wall and a battered economy suffers another kicking.

We urge Ursula von der Leyen and the 27 EU countries to be prepared to compromise when an agreement is also in the interests of Ireland, France, Germany, Spain and the rest.

But if a Prime Minister responsible for a string of disasters, including fatal mistakes during the coronavirus crisis, does not deliver his promised deal it would be a catastrophic, colossal, spectacular flop.

He never had a recipe, never mind an oven-ready deal, and did not get Brexit done which is why Britain is teetering on a Dover cliff-edge.

Extending talks again offers hope.

The PM must not blow the opportunity.

Brave Linda

Linda Nolan’s honest and brave story of living with incurable breast cancer will speak to those facing similar challenges.

Our heart goes out to the singer after new tumours appeared in her liver.

Her tears and fears in a 15-year battle with cancer are the revealing admissions of someone who deserves our sympathy and best wishes, someone who will be strengthened by the knowledge so many of you are willing her to enjoy the time she has left.

Thank you, Linda. Your candour means others will not feel alone.

Healthy note

Once the best of rivals, Justin Bieber and an NHS choir will make sweet music this Christmas by singing from the same hymn sheet.

The Canadian superstar and health workers from South East London are jointly raising funds for NHS charities, hitting the right note at the end of a sickening year.
