Voice of the Mirror: Elections an opportunity to vote for better future under Labour

Thursday's elections could prove a pivotal moment in this country’s history.

At stake is the future of the UK and the prosperity of millions of people.

Across the land Labour has shown it is best placed to meet the challenges of our time.

Andy Burnham has proved to be a proud and forceful champion of Greater Manchester.

In the West Midlands, only Labour’s Liam Byrne has the vision required to bring jobs and investment to the region.

What is your view? Have your say in the comment section

Labour leader Keir Starmer has been getting out and about meeting people in the run-up to Thursday's elections (PA)

London mayor Sadiq Khan has delivered on his promises to build more homes and create a greener capital, while in Wales First Minister Mark Drakeford deserves praise for his deft handling of the Covid crisis.

It is Labour mayors and councillors who are delivering jobs, protecting local services and investing in their communities. This stands in contrast to the waste, cronyism and incompetence of Boris Johnson’s government.

At the polling booth today you do not just have a chance to hold the Tories to account.

You have an opportunity to vote for a better future under Labour.

BBC pay a joke

Graham Norton once said it was “pathetic” that the BBC had to reveal how much it paid its star presenters.

Now we have an idea why he holds this view.

Graham Norton's income has soared by £250k as he dwarfs BBC's top earner Gary Lineker (BBC/So Television/Christopher Baines)

Accounts show he is getting more than £3million a year to make his chat show.

Perhaps Norton believes he’s value for money. More than three million pensioners aged over 75 may take a different view. They now have to pay for their TV licence as the BBC says it cannot afford it.

The BBC needs to ask itself what is better value for money. Looking after its loyal audience or lavishing already well-rewarded stars with ever more lucrative contracts?

Tots of fun

If that was not impressive enough she now has to remember their names...
