Callous wealthy Conservative Kevin Hollinrake is an MP with a hard heart who should think before he speaks.
His ignorance and apparent lack of concern about poverty in Britain today, including struggling families in his own area, reminds us that if we scratch the surface of Boris Johnson’s Tory Party we quickly discover shocking attitudes haven’t changed.
The contradiction in Hollinrake’s argument was glaring.
He was being insensitive to the fact poor parents have no choice when they can’t feed their kids, while failing to apply the same judgment to a Chancellor subsiding meals so we eat out.
The MP’s prejudice against the poor is sickening.
Ensuring all kids are fed is the responsibility of us all as much as their education, health and housing.
Hollinrake is lucky, he has done well in life. So has Marcus Rashford.
The big difference is the Manchester United and England footballer doesn’t forget where he came from and that many remain less fortunate than he is.
