Boris Johnson today said he didn’t know how much money Russian oligarchs had donated to the Conservatives.
If it helps, Prime Minister, we can tell you. Since 2010 Russian donors have given £3.5million to the Tories.
Some of this money has come from people with links to President Vladimir Putin’s regime and has been used to buy access to senior Tory politicians, including Johnson.
Perhaps it is just a coincidence that the Tories have been reluctant to bring in new laws that would freeze the assets of those linked to corruption and human rights abuses?
It goes some way to explaining why the Prime Minister is refusing to release a report by the Intelligence and Security Committee on alleged Russian meddling in British politics.
The report is understood to examine the Tory reliance on Russian donors and whether Putin interfered in the EU referendum.
The Tories’ refusal to publish the report suggests they have something to hide.
By withholding the document Johnson is insulting the electorate who deserve to know the truth before they cast their vote.
AGE SHOULD BE NO BARRIER TO TRAVEL
As any older person will tell you age is no barrier to travel.
What is holding them back are insurance companies charging pensioners sky-high premiums for holiday and car insurance.
A survey by Which? has found the over-80s are paying six times more for holiday cover than someone in their fifties.
There is no reason for insurance companies to fleece pensioners in this way.
The insurance firms need to end this prejudice and meanness and give OAPs a break.
