Voice of the Mirror: Boris Johnson can't be trusted on vaccine plan of action

When vaccination is the biggest logistical challenge since the Second World War and the virus is threatening to create toy shortages this Christmas, we glimpse the breadth and depth of the pandemic’s impact.

Labour leader Keir Starmer’s call for a national action plan to inoculate tens of millions of people is a proposal a wise Prime Minister would embrace, acknowledging the advantages of politicians and the public working together.

Boris Johnson’s a partisan leader behind the self-generated PR and he’ll never be forgiven if stubborness jeopardises lives, acting narrowly in what he perceives to be his own party’s interests, rather than building a national coalition.

Toy shortages aren’t a life or death matter, unlike virus infections and ultimately vaccinations, but they are evidence of the economic disruption caused by the PM’s handling, or more accurately his mishandling, of Covid-19.

Measured by health and wealth, the Conservative Government and it’s beleaguered head are failing on both.

Blow the vaccinations, get them wrong, and Johnson won’t be able to bluster his way out of responsibility.
