Vogue Williams to celebrate horse racing debut with 'buckets of champagne' after finishing sixth in charity race

Vogue Williams says she is going to celebrate her horse racing debut with "buckets of champagne" after finishing sixth in the Magnolia Cup at Goodwood.

The Irish model and presenter started the prestigious charity race as the 5/2 favourite on The Magic Sign and briefly led before finishing middle of the pack out of 12 competitors.

The 33-year-old, who trained for four months ahead of the race, was up against the likes of Olympic gold medallist Victoria Pendleton and former Apprentice runner-up Luisa Zissman.

But it was teenage sensation Khadijah Mellah who romped home to become the first jockey in Britain to race while wearing a hijab.

Vogue revealed that after the race that she was just thinking about not falling off her mount and was delighted to finished the race in one piece.

She said: "The horse was just amazing and all the bits I was nervous about - he was just a dream.

"He pulled up very easy and was so good going up to the front. He flew a bit at the start and he lost a bit of steam at the end, but I'm so glad I went with him.

"The start was very good. I didn't get off first but I certainly didn't go off last. I think I was leading at some point and then my mate lost a bit of speed but I don't blame him.

"I can't believe I just did that, I feel like crying.

"I could hear them [other racers] around me but I wasn't looking, I was just like 'Go, go, go' and then I started screaming.

"I was shouting, I was screaming, trying to push his neck but he was such a nice horse. I'm just so glad I go out there safely and I did the race and I pulled up safely, I'm just delighted.

"[I'm going to celebrate] with buckets of champagne."
