Vogue Williams says Louis Walsh dashed her dreams of joining girl band in her teens

Vogue Williams has said Louis Walsh dashed her dreams of joining a girl band in her teens - recalling how he rejected her during an audition when she was 16.

The Dublin DJ and model, 34, who is now friendly with the music mogul, admitted she still hasn’t brought up the awkward encounter to this day.

The radio host said: “I can’t even remember which one it was. I was about 16. I am such an awful, awful singer, but I always wanted to be in a band and me and my friend always auditioned for things.

“I got through quite a few rounds, but it wasn’t enough.”

Asked whether the musical moment was televised, she added: “No, thank God it wasn’t. I don’t think the band went anywhere. I know Louis and I’ve never actually brought it up with him,”

The busy mum-of-two to Theodore, two, and two-month-old baby Gigi, lifted the lid on her life in lockdown, explaining how their new arrival has brought her and her hubby Spencer Matthews closer together.

She told OK! Magazine : “Yes, it’s another part of our lives. It’s definitely brought us closer together. It’s such an incredible thing. We feel really, really lucky. We’re really into family life, that’s what we love.”

However, juggling her two tots with her Heart radio show, podcast, and her new role as guest presenter on Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch, which films in Leeds, the London based star said being a mother is her favourite job yet.

“I have no free time whatsoever. I had the two of them on my own this weekend and I was absolutely shattered by Sunday night.

“I love it so much, I love being a mum. It’s my favourite job and I feel so lucky we were able to have kids. Every day is hilarious.

“It’s hard to navigate it sometimes because it’s so full on with two, but it definitely hasn’t put me off having more.”

Opening up on their plans to expand their family in the future, Vogue added:

“I will definitely have more, but I think maybe with a little longer break.

“I say definitely – we’ll see! If I’m lucky enough to have more, I will be absolutely delighted with that.”

But the homesick star admitted her current wish is to get home to Ireland.

“I go through phases. I was really upset last week, not being able to see family, then I sort of forget it again.

“Every so often I’ll have a “Gah” moment because I absolutely love home, I really miss it. I would love nothing more than to go home, but right now it’s just not possible.”
