Vogue Williams managed to pull the wool over the eyes of her radio co-host as she convinced him she was going into labour in an elaborate on-air prank.
The Irish podcaster is expecting her fourth child with former Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews, and used her pregnancy to play a trick on fellow presenter Jamie Theakston on Monday.
While hosting the Heart Breakfast show, Williams, 40, set up the prank – which all the studio producers were in on – by hiding a water balloon under her seat.
Leaning forward while clutching at her back, Williams made the balloon burst, giving the impression that her waters had broken and the baby was coming.
Williams looked up in shock, asking: ”What is that? What just happened?” as Theakston, 55, came round to check and ask if her waters had broken.
“You’re f***ing kidding me,” he said, remaining calm as Williams screamed and said that she was “really worried”.
“It’s alright. You’re OK,” Theakston reassuringly told her, while Williams panicked and stood up again.
Theakston asked where Matthews was and took his co-host’s headphones off, telling her to “stay there” while he called for help, with Williams leaning forwards into the microphone and struggling not to laugh.
“You’re not gonna have the baby right now, lemme tell you,” Theakston, who has two children himself, said in an attempt to calm Williams.
“I’m not having a baby in Heart studios, no way,” she said in agreement, telling Theakston that he’d have to “wheel me out on this chair” before he tried to help her walk to the lift.
Off camera, a producer then asked Williams for “one thing”, before setting off a confetti cannon and shouting at a bewildered looking Theakston that they had “got your a**”.
“Oh, you’re f***ing kidding me,” he said with a laugh, calling the team “you little f***ers”.
“That’s so cruel,” Theakston said. “I was about to go with you in a taxi!”
WIlliams joked that if anything were to go wrong with her labour, she’d want Theakston there due to his calm demeanour, with the comment section beneath the Instagram clip echoing her point.
“I work on the floor below and from this moment on, if there’s any emergency I’m going to get @jamie.theakston,” commented presenter Sian Welby, with Olly Murs concurring: “I agree with @sianwelby ! I’m calling Jamie with any emergency from now on!! Cool as you like.”
“Ohhhh poor Jamie he was soooo lovely. What a calm and kind guy,” another comment said.
One fan wrote: “I think everyone needs a Jamie in their life when they’re having an emergency. He was brilliant, shame it was all a prank.”
“Unreal!!!!! So so good!!!” said Alexandra Burke, while GK Barry added: ”The sound of the water sent me.”
Williams and Matthews currently have three children – Theodore, seven, Gigi, five, and Otto, three – with their fourth due in less than three months.
