Vogue Arabia: Tackling taboos in the Middle East

Our guest is Manuel Arnaut, one of the most influential figures in the world of fashion today. The 37-year-old is the editor-in-chief of Vogue Arabia. He tells us about his favourite covers, focusing on positive stories in the region and tackling taboos.

Meanwhile, in Lebanon, a Covid-19 lockdown came into effect on January 11. The strict measures have been piling hardship on the poor, which now make up over half the country's population. In the northern city of Tripoli, protesters have been taking to the streets, angered by a lack of government aid.

And the UN's children agency UNICEF has been sounding the alarm over Covid-19 becoming a child rights crisis. This is particularly the case in Jordan, where poverty rates are expected to soon increase to 27 percent among locals. This has led to higher numbers of children entering the labour market.
