Vogel on LeBron after big assist: ‘Nobody in NBA history delivers the ball better’

LeBron James added to his resume as one of the best passers, if not the best ever, in NBA history with his performance in Friday night’s Los Angeles Lakers victory over the Dallas Mavericks in overtime on Friday night.

James had 39 points, 16 assists and 12 rebounds on the night as he continues to be one of the most dynamic players in basketball despite playing in his 17th season. Down by three points with only a handful of seconds left, the Lakers ran a play to get LeBron on the run to find a shooter. He eventually found Danny Green in the corner thanks to a technically legal screen from Dwight Howard to free Green to the corner.

After the game, Vogel waxed poetic about LeBron’s generational ability to find shooters for open looks.

Vogel knows what it’s like to deal with the shot-creation ability of LeBron having to design defenses to defend him in the earlier part of the decade as the coach of the Indiana Pacers. That he’s so great at explaining just how special he is shows just how grateful Vogel is to be on the other side of LeBron’s one-of-a kind talent outbursts.
