A booze thief stole suitcase loads of vodka and whisky, a court heard.
Lee Nicol, of of Sorn Street, Catrine, pinched over £7000 worth of alcohol from Loch Lomond Group’s warehouse, in Catrine during a four hour heist.
The 25-year-old was caught on CCTV alongside two others cramming bottles into bags and suitcases.
Depute fiscal Scott Toal told Ayr Sheriff Court the alcohol was locked and secured within the premises on X.
Mr Toal said: “CCTV showed the accused with two other males, who weren’t identified, near to the locus going in to the compound entry.
“They had suitcases and other bags which they used to carry items.
“They were observed from 11.30pm on the 21st to 3.20am on the 22nd going back and forwards.
“On 26th of September, further enquiries led to the van being identified.
“Six bottles of whisky were recovered.
“£7380 was stolen from the property in total.
“That included numerous bottles of vodka and whisky.”
Nicol's defence solicitor contested the "high value” of the drink stolen.
And added that he has recently been released after serving a custodial sentence.
She said: “He is currently on sickness benefits due to mental health issues he is trying to address.”
Sheriff Desmond Leslie placed Nicol on a community payback order where he will be under social work supervision for 18 months.
Nicol was also tagged for six months and must remain in his home address from 7pm - 7am.
The Sheriff told Nicol: “That’s a direct alternative to custody- and I make that on the basis that you’ve just served a sentence.”
