Vodafone down as 10,000 report problems with mobile service

More than 10,000 people have reported that their Vodafone mobile network is down.

Shortly after 5pm this evening mobile users on the network started reporting issues on Down Detector.

The problems seem to be primarily with phone signal rather than with 4G or home broadband.

Texting also appears to be unhindered.

A Vodafone spokesperson said: “We'd like to apologise to any customers who struggled to make phone calls this evening.

"We had an incident at around 17.20, which was fixed at 18.10. The service is now fully back to normal.

"Any customer struggling to make a call, should quickly turn their phone off and on again to restart. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

On social media, some users have said they’re met with a “call ended” message whenever they try to make a call, while others experience a disconnect tone.

In the last hour, DownDetector has received over 10,700 reports of connectivity issues with Vodafone, 407 with EE, 89 with Tesco Mobile and 537 with O2.

One Vodafone user tweeted: "I keep getting a 'server error' when making a call, & nobody can get through to me - tried on a different Vodafone number too & that's experiencing the same problem.

"Is the network having issues?"

Another added: "My phone is only working when I connect to at-home Wi-Fi is anyone else's phone not working? I'm with Vodafone."
