Vodafone customers unable to make phone calls as company experiences technical problems

A major network provider in the UK has been suffering problems leaving users unable to call out.

Vodafone confirmed this afternoon on Twitter it was "aware of a current network issue".

According to Down Detector, the problems started at around 12:25 BST, and have been affecting users across the UK.

While the reason for the outage remains unclear, of those who reported issues, 62% said they were having issues with their home broadband, 19% with their mobile phone, and 17% with their mobile internet.

However the company says the issue on affected calls to and from fixed telephone networks.

On Twitter, the company replied to a tweet about the network being down. It said: "We’re aware of a current network issue and we’re working hard to get this fixed.

"Once the issue has been resolved your network will go back to normal."

Police forces across Wales are also experiencing problems, meaning people can't get through to 101.

Gwent Police said: "We are experiencing some technical issues which means the 101 service is down.

"Please contact us through Social Media or 01633 838111. Many thanks."

What is 5G?

South Wales Police is experiencing the same issues.

It said: "We're currently experiencing problems with our 101 non-emergency number.

"The 999 service is unaffected and can still be used for emergencies. Alternative ways of getting in touch are available via: https://south-wales.police.uk/en/contact-us/

"Non-urgent queries can be sent via direct message."

A spokesman for Vodafone said: "We had a technical fault affecting calls to and from fixed telephone networks.

"This began shortly after midday, and we fixed the issue at around 2.15pm.

"We apologise to those customers that were affected.”
