Vodafone closes Birmingham city centre store

A mobile phone retailer has closed one of its stores in Birmingham city centre.

Vodafone has shut its branch at the corner of Corporation Street and New Street and transferred all staff to its shop in the Bullring shopping centre.

It is the second closure in the city by Vodafone after it shut its shop at the corner of High Street and New Street to make way for the new Metro Bank which opened in August.

A statement from the company said: "We have transferred our employees from the stores in Corporation Street and New Street, which are now closed, to our nearby Bullring shopping centre store.

"We are putting more resources into this store as it is larger and attracts more customers.

"In September, we also announced that we are taking on at least 24 empty shop premises across the UK and fitting them out as new retail stores as part of our franchise programme.

"This reflects our ongoing commitment to help customers get the most from our new services, including 5G and unlimited mobile data plans, by providing in-person support and advice."
