'Vocal' - Jack Colback reveals his approach to Nottingham Forest captaincy

Jack Colback says he is proud to captain Nottingham Forest, even if he is only keeping the armband warm.

The midfielder has led the side out in the absence of Lewis Grabban, who has missed the last five games with a hip injury, while club captain Michael Dawson is also on the sidelines with a calf problem.

"It's a proud moment to be fair. I do enjoy doing it," Colback told Nottinghamshire Live.

"I try to be vocal and encourage the lads. We've got a good group so it's an easy task. It's a big encouragement when the manager gives you the armband."

The 31-year-old has not been a regular captain in a career which has seen him play 358 times in total for Forest, Ipswich, Sunderland and Newcastle United.

However, he does have some experience from his Sunderland days, playing under another competitive midfielder in his old coach Kevin Ball, as well as in a previous loan spell at Forest.

"I captained when I was in the youth team and reserves. I had Kevin Ball back then," he said.

"I got decent pointers off him. It's probably why I speak to the ref the way I do sometimes!

"When I was on loan here before I wore it a few times.

"It's something that doesn't faze me. I'm ready to do it. Grabbs would be skipper if he were playing and Daws is club captain but I'm proud to do it."
