VMAs 2016: Blue Ivy appears unimpressed with cameras as she walks white carpet with Beyoncé

As Beyoncé and her daughter Blue Ivy Carter walked the white carpet at Madison Square Gardens into the VMA awards, the singer’s daughter appeared unimpressed at the crowd of photographers’ hoping to take pictures of her.

Beyoncé held her four-year-old daughter’s hand as they walked down the white carpet together, stopping at one point in front of a group of photographers. Beyoncé bowed down to speak to her daughter, who gestured at the photographers and shook her head before the pair continued walking along the carpet.

The moment was captured on film and has been shared on social media, along with other images of the mother and daughter together at the event. Beyoncé posted a picture on Instagram of Blue Ivy smiling in her dress backstage, and another of them walking along holding hands.

Sunday night marked the second time Blue Ivy has appeared at the VMAs. Two years ago father Jay Z carried his daughter on stage as he presented Beyoncé with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, which left the singer in tears.

Many have also been recounting Blue Ivy's first unofficial appearance at the awards ceremony, when Beyoncé publicly announced her pregnancy on stage at the VMAs in 2011 when she opened her tuxedo jacket and stood holding her stomach and smiling.

This year Beyoncé’s VMA appearance saw her deliver a 16-minute performance of tracks from her album Lemonade. She won video of the year for Formation and best female video for Hold Up.

After winning video of the year, she thanked Jay Z and Blue Ivy for their support, and said: “I dedicate this award to the people of New Orleans”.
