Vlaeminck to boost Aussies in women's T20s

Meg Lanning says Australia is embracing the challenge India presents in their multi-format series. (AAP)

Speed demon Tayla Vlaeminck is on the verge of her first international appearance since April as Australia seek to close out their multi-format series against India.

The injury-plagued Vlaeminck has been eased back into action, missing Australia's three ODIs and last week's Test against the tourists.

But the fast bowler is poised to return for the opening Twenty20 at Metricon Stadium on Thursday night, after last playing in New Zealand six months ago.

Vlaeminck was set to be a key part of Australia's T20 World Cup campaign last year before being ruled out with a foot stress fracture.

But Australia captain Meg Lanning is thrilled to welcome back the 22-year-old from her latest setback.

Vlaeminck has played just 11 T20s but is already one of Australia's most dangerous players in the format with 11 wickets at 17.

"Tayla being available for selection is really exciting," Lanning said.

"It looks like they're preparing a new wicket so we'll just have a look at that and see if that makes impact on selection with bowling."

Australian enter the three T20 matches with a 6-4 lead but India ended their record ODI winning streak and were on top for the majority of the drawn Test.

Lanning said her team was embracing the challenge of a hungry India, determined to avenge their defeat in last year's World Cup final.

"We've been able to integrate some young players back into the group so far this series," she said.

"In terms of expectations, it hasn't really shifted too much.

"We come into every series and every game wanting to win ... we certainly expected India to come hard at us and be a really good challenge and thats what's happened.

"It's not a surprise, we haven't been put on the back foot - that's the great thing about the game at the moment, there's so many world-class teams who can win on any given day."
