Vivienne Westwood locks herself in 10ft cage protesting Julian Assange's US extradition

Dame Vivienne Westwood is shut in a 10ft high birdcage to protest Julian Assange's extradition to the US.

The large cage has been set up outside the Old Bailey for maximum impact.

Sensationally the world-famous fashion designer, 79, claimed the infamous prisoner has been "set up" by the CIA during a Good Morning Britain interview on Thursday.

Live on air, the fashion guru slammed Good Morning Britain's portrayal of Assange ahead of her staged protest.

She told Good Morning Britain: "Well first of all I want to say your introduction is exactly the total misrepresentation of Julian Assange that's going on for all that time.

"None of any of this is true. He's been trapped. It's been a collusion of all the governments involved America, Britain and Sweden.

Assange is incarcerated in HM Prison Belmarsh on remand since September 22 last year after an extradition warrant was issued in the US.
