Vivid Seats predicts near-50/50 split for Saints fans, Cowboys fans on SNF

The New Orleans Saints are preparing to kick off against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football, but they may not enjoy as strong a homefield advantage as many envision inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

It seems tough to believe that Cowboys fans would travel so well and even crowd out the supporters of the home team for the biggest game of the year to-date, but it’s possible. The Cowboys built a long-lasting, strong national brand with a string of Super Bowl victories in the 1990’s, and they still enjoy support from parts of Louisiana; the Shreveport, La. broadcast market bordering Texas often gets Cowboys games when the rest of Louisiana tunes in for other kickoffs.

Per ticket sales analysis completed by Vivid Seats, Cowboys fans are projected to slightly outnumber Saints fans in a nearly-even 50/50 split. Here’s a visualization of the data they’ve collected:

Additionally, ticket prices have reached for the moon for this much-anticipated rematch of last year’s upset in Dallas. Terrace-level seating was ranged from $160 to $300 on Friday, while club-level seats approached $480. Plaza-level seating approached $700. Those are opportunities for Saints season ticket holders to recoup some of what they’ve put into their investment, making it difficult to turn away Cowboys fans eager to pay up.

On the other hand: it’s early, and tickets are still changing hands. And this is an estimation from a vendor who hasn’t clearly disclosed how they reached this conclusion. So don’t expect to see a wave of navy-blue jerseys and silver Cowboys stars in the Superdome stands on Sunday night.
