Vitality’s 22-map win streak puts them second only to NIP

Team Vitality have written into another chapter of Counter-Strike history with their win at the BLAST Open Rotterdam 2026. The third tournament victory for Vitality in the year not only saw them tie Astralis’ record of top four placements, but also extended their map win streak to 22 consecutive maps at Big Events, second only to the legendary NIP.

How Vitality built the 22-map streak

Vitality’s streak of map wins stretches back to PGL Cluj-Napoca in the middle of Feb. 2026. The team started the event off with a 2-1 win over G2, before facing The MongolZ who defeated them in a closely-fought Mirage game 13-10. From there, Vitality battered the Mongolian side 13-4 on Dust2 and Nuke, kicking off their streak.

During the course of Cluj-Napoca, Vitality also defeated MOUZ, Aurora, The MongolZ (rematch), and PARIVISION. The team then chose to skip ESL Pro League Season 23 instead, regrouping for BLAST Open Rotterdam. There they faced Aurora, PARIVISION and The MongolZ again, before taking down NAVI in three maps in the finals.

Across the 22 maps, Vitality’s opponents have averaged less than seven rounds per map. That includes Vitality’s worst map in the pool, Overpass, which nearly always goes down to the wire.

Can Vitality chase down NIP’s record?

Ninjas in Pyjamas’ 87-0 streak is arguably one of the most famous in all of esports. And realistically, Vitality will never catch that number. But not all of those maps were played at Big Events as the modern CS2 scene classifies it. When filtering down for Big Events only, NIP’s streak drops to a, still-massive, more reasonable 34-0.

Vitality’s next event, IEM Rio, employs ESL’s classic format of GSL-groups into single-elimination playoffs. Should Vitality stay flawless through the entire event, they’d add another 11 maps to their streak, putting them just one behind NIP. However, going flawless against the likes of FURIA, Falcons, MOUZ, and Spirit will be a tall task even for the almighty Vitality.

Even the legendary Astralis of 2018 did not manage more than 14 consecutive maps. Though Astralis did manage to put together four streaks that all go in the top ten list.
