The Saudi ministry of justice announced that it started implementing the audio/visual documentation of the hearing sessions initiative. Riyadh criminal court will be the first to start the visual recording of the sessions.
The ministry has been planning this move earlier this year and started preparing the grounds for it.
Documenting court hearings is a very important step to preserve the rights of all parties involved, and help judges make full use of technology by being able to retrieve hearing sessions related to any case, said the ministry.
Saudi Arabia's judiciary has been taking important steps in utilizing technology to build a strong database and boost the sector’s performance.
“Visual documentation of hearings will help the ministry step into a new level of transparency and performance efficiency.”
The ministry stressed that “the availability of online visual documents for courts hearings will help judges as well as legal practitioners have a better analysis of certain cases and provide most accurate evaluations.”
