Vissel eye move for Theerathon

Muang Thong's Theerathon Bunmathan.

Japanese side Vissel Kobe are interested in SCG Muang Thong United star Theerathon Bunmathan.

The J-League club have sent a letter to Muang Thong asking about the player's availability, according to the Thai team.

Theerathon said: "I am very excited to learn that Vissel Kobe are interested in me. It is my dream to play in the J-League as I believe this would make me become a better player."

However, the Thailand defender said he would not make a decision whether to go to Japan until after the second leg of the Mekong Club Championship final on Jan 6 and the AFC Champions League play-offs next month.

"I want to help Muang Thong reach the group stage of the AFC Champions League first," he said.

The former Buriram United player, 27, is regarded as Thailand's best left-back at the moment.

He has won 15 major domestic trophies with Buriram and Muang Thong.

If he joins Vissel Kobe, whose key players include former Germany forward Lukas Podolski, he would be the third Muang Thong player to join a J-League club.

Midfielder Chanathip Songkrasin is at Consadole Sapporo on a 18-month loan deal which began in July while striker Teerasil Dangda recently signed a one-year loan contract with Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
