Visor-wearing woman filmed spraying 'disinfectant' as she walks down Scots street

Bizarre footage captures the moment a woman sprays "disinfectant" through the air behind pedestrians on a street.

The video posted online yesterday was shot in Possilpark, Glasgow.

And social media users have been left scratching their heads as the footage notches up nearly 200,000 views so far.

Callum Russell shared the video after being left baffled by the woman's behaviour.

In the short clip, the woman can be seen sporting a face visor and plastic spray bottle believed to be filled with anti-viral solution.

As the woman walks past Possilpark Parish Church on Sacacen Street, she makes space for a man approaching with a dog who passes by.

As the man walks past, the woman starts to spray the air in front of her several times as a faint mist of liquid can be seen flying out from the bottle.

As she makes her way down the street, she continues to squeeze the bottle, "cleansing" the air from left to right.

A baffled Callum, from Glasgow, shared the video with the caption: “I’ve seen it all now”.

The unusual scene has since had over 188,000 views and over 8,000 likes, with many viewers left concerned by what they saw.

@Mrmojorisen01 writing: “I can't believe what the media has done to people. No one should live in that much fear.”

@Thwrebel11 defended the woman saying: “To be honest I don't really see the value in taking the piss out of people that are either: medically vulnerable to #COVID19, suffering profound mental health anxiety around COVID19, all of the above”.

But @RobosullivanRob joked: “Perhaps the dog had farted, can't be too careful these days.”

And @David_wfc wrote: “Goodness gracious me."

On the 30th of December Scotland recorded 2,045 cases of coronavirus, the highest number yet since the start of the pandemic.

A further 43 people have since died from the virus, sparking new fears of tougher restrictions to be imposed on Scotland.

Nicola Sturgeon has warned the public against any breaking of the regulations this Hogmanay.

She said: "This year, I know we're all desperate to kick 2020 into touch but we must do that safely - and the safest way to do that this year is in our own homes with our own households.

"This is a time of year I know people enjoy getting together, but that's not safe to do this year.

"As we head into the Hogmanay and new year period, I really do appeal to people to stay out of the homes of others, celebrate the new year in your own home only with your own household.

"That's how to keep yourself safe and your loved ones safe. It's also how we protect our National Health Service."
