You can now bungee jump off Kyoto Tower. Virtually speaking, that is.

Located in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto, the tower has set up a virtual reality attraction that lets visitors experience the sensation of falling off its top, a height of 120.9 meters. People are shouting in delight as they enjoy the event, which will continue through March 31.

There are six seats for the virtual bungee jumping on the first floor of the tower's observation deck. Users put on goggles that show footage simulating a rise to a spot on the tower 120.9 meters above the ground, and after a countdown, they plunge toward the earth. Air is blown in their face at the same time, heightening the realism of the experience.

An 11-year-old elementary school student from Moriyama, Shiga Prefecture, who was visiting with his family, said, "The scenery was pretty, but the video of falling was so real, it creeped me out."

The VR attraction is a repeat of a similar event in 2018 that has been brought back due to its popularity.

Virtual bungee jumping is available from noon to 9 p.m. and charges a fee of 800 yen. A ticket set including entry to the observation deck costs 1,400 yen for an adult, 1,300 yen for a high school student and 1,100 yen for elementary and junior high school students.
