Visitors evacuated from Guinness Storehouse as fire breaks out on premises

The Guinness Storehouse had to be evacuated after a fire broke out on Wednesday evening.

Visitors had to wait outside for around an hour as Dublin Fire Brigade dealt with the blaze.

Thankfully nobody was injured in the incident and there was no damage to the premises, Dublin Live reports.

Customers were eventually let back to finish their trip and given free tickets for another visit.

A spokesperson confirmed the incident, saying: "There was a small isolated fire in the Guinness Storehouse yesterday.

"The fire was contained and there were no injuries or indeed any damage to the building.

The most common stereotypes Irish people have about French people and what French people really think about us

"As per our fire safety procedures, the building was fully evacuated and the Dublin Fire Brigade was called to the site.

"There was no damage to the building and we reopened the Guinness Storehouse yesterday afternoon."

The incident was the second in the space of a couple of weeks as the DFB were called to quell a blaze after people spotted smoke in the distance.

Firefighters were quick to calm the nerves of those speculating the incident, saying on twitter: "One fire engine has dealt with a minor fire off Victoria Quay, smoke was visible but the incident has been dealt with."

Guinness Fire & Rescue, a 24/7 emergency response service that works on the compounds of St James' Brewery, were also on hand.
