Vision emerges of Broncos' Walsh, Haas in park rumble

Video footage of Brisbane stars Reece Walsh and Payne Haas skylarking in a public park on Sunday night has emerged, but the Broncos won't be sanctioning the pair.

Broncos captain Adam Reynolds and vice-captain Pat Carrigan fronted the media on Tuesday to apologise for their scuffle on a night out in Brisbane after video footage was posted on social media site X.

The Nine Network released further CCTV vision on Tuesday night of Walsh making a dart to tackle Carrigan, while Haas can be seen engaged in some bonding in what appears to be a multi-player pile-on.

AAP has been told the pair won't be punished by the club although the NRL Integrity Unit may elect to do so.

The club's view is Haas and Walsh were skylarking in a jocular manner, not harming anyone or being aggressive. That they were doing it in a public place is the Broncos' main concern.

Coach Kevin Walters summed up the Sunday night shenanigans best on Tuesday.

"We had a blimp on Sunday evening. It was in-house too, no one from outside was involved," Walters said.

"All they've done is really hurt themselves and the brand, more than anyone from the public.

"We won't be suspending them. The NRL integrity unit is looking at all the vision and they'll be obviously doing some interviews. So it's out of our hands now and into theirs."

The NRL Integrity Unit is investigating the events that unfolded on Sunday night and has been in touch with the Broncos.

In the past punishments have been handed out if the NRL decided the game had been brought into disrepute.

There is no doubt the influence of alcohol contributed to the scenario that unfolded on Sunday, but Walters said alcohol consumption was not an issue solely for his club or the code.

He said the Broncos would be supporting their players.

"Alcohol is a problem in society, not just in rugby league. It's a  big issue in society, and we're part of society," he said.

"We get around the players and support them and will make sure that they've learned their lesson and try to ensure that this sort of thing is not something that's part of our group moving forward.

"We've been in a great position for the last couple of years. We just look for the positives and make sure that we get our season off to a good start, particularly on Sunday."

The Broncos play North Queensland on Sunday in Mackay in a pre-season trial with Walsh, Haas, Carrigan and Reynolds all named to start.
